ALT Industries

From Broad Audience to Clear Niche: How Alt Industries Grew from $600 to $10K/Month

Background

Alt Industries launched as a brand rooted in the emo, alternative, and metal music space. Initially, the goal was to serve the broader alternative community. However, traction was slow, competition was heavy, and messaging felt too broad to truly resonate. The brand essentially started from zero, generating around $600 in July as their first meaningful sales.

Challenges

The alternative apparel space is highly saturated. Competing brands were already deeply embedded in the culture, making it difficult for Alt Industries to stand out.Their messaging spoke to “everyone” in the alt community, which ultimately meant they weren’t speaking directly to anyone. Sales were inconsistent, traffic was modest, and growth felt stagnant.

Our Approach

We focused on fundamentals and messaging clarity.Through testing and analysis, we identified that the issue wasn’t product quality — it was positioning. Instead of targeting the entire emo/alt audience, we helped them niche down within the niche. They shifted focus to millennial “elder emos” — people who grew up in the early 2000s emo era and shared the same cultural touchpoints as the founders. Messaging became more specific. Music in content aligned with that era. Hooks directly called out that identity. This didn’t feel inauthentic. It felt genuine — because it was.

Key Improvements

We refined audience targeting and built messaging specifically for millennial emo culture.Traffic increased significantly once paid advertising was layered in behind clearer positioning. Conversion rate increased to 1.36%, and nearly 5% of visitors began adding to cart — a 30% improvement in early traffic performance.By niching within the niche, content began resonating more deeply and community engagement strengthened.

Results

From $600 in July to their first $10,000 month in December, Alt Industries experienced steady, consistent growth over five to six months. They are now positioned to scale with clarity. Instead of guessing who their audience is, they know exactly who they are speaking to and how to reach them. The next phase is continued content creation and scaling attention within their clearly defined community.
